ONE POD - THE FUTURE OF URBAN MOBILIT

The name OnePod illustrates the idea and the self-image of the new concept vehicle from Volkswagen, because "One" stands for "One Solution for all". The interior can be configured for different tasks, for example as a robotaxi that offers "mobility as a service". Generous window areas, a display and intuitive control elements in the armrests give the passenger an optimal view and access to all necessary applications. External communication takes place via signals in light strips that inform other road users and, if necessary, warn them.

"Electromobility and autonomous driving give us more freedom in design, as the space in the interior is growing, among other things, and this offers completely new design options," says Peter Wouda, Head of the Volkswagen Group Future Center Europe. "With the OnePod we are following this development and are also giving children and older people in particular an additional and new option to get around the city individually, in an environmentally friendly and safe manner."

MY ROLE:

I was part of an interdisciplinary collaboration with multiple project teams to develop ideas and concepts, and later produce the final product of One Pod which provides a vision of how autonomous EV mobility in urban areas should look like in the future.

As Lead Motion Designer and Creative, in the Digital Assistant team, it was my job to concept and design for an digital assistant in a level 5 car, to cater to all needs of the users. My responisbilities included: concepting user journeys, AI persona, AI voice direction, AI art direction design and finally motion design.
